Walking Tour of Englands Lake District To view a day-by-day itinerary of the walking tour, June 17 27, 2004 Rick Marsi invites you to join him on a 10-night/11-day walking tour of Englands incomparably beautiful Lake District. Scheduled for June 17 27, 2004, the tour will take place during Englands delightful late spring, yet before vacationers crowd this remarkably lovely region. Coordinating the trip from England will be the experienced tour company, Cumbrian Discoveries. Focusing exclusively on providing high quality, personalized walking tours of the Lake District, Cumbrian Discoveries will provide our group with two full-time select Blue Badge guides (certified by the National Tourist Board). One guide will walk with us daily, while the other trails the group in a van for back-up support. As well as carrying any and all gear for the days hike, the back-up van will be ready at a moments notice to return any participants who choose to return to their hotel for rest and relaxation. Walks of 2 3 miles will be scheduled for morning and afternoon. Participants are invited to join the group for one or both excursions. Each walk will highlight magnificent lakeland scenery. On some we will visit 19th century castles for a welcome cup of coffee and a private tour with a member of the owners family. On others well make our way along the shores Englands largest lake, or walk on an ancient pack horse route. Meandering across pastures and gentle rolling hills, well visit typical stone and slate country farmhouses. Passing through charming Lakeland villages, well stop for a pub lunch on occasion. Well walk along ancient Roman roads, enjoy stunning waterfall views, partake in sunset lake cruises and walk where Beatrix Potter and Henry Wadsworth soaked up literary inspiration. All the while our guides will help us enjoy the Lake Districts natural surroundings, learn its fascinating history and meet its local residents. As for lodging, well stay in both traditional country and village inns, enjoying clean, comfortable accommodations and very good food. Topping off the tour will be two nights in London, where well stay at Rubens at the Palace, a very comfortable hotel centrally located near Buckingham Palace. During out London stay well take part in a full day of guided sightseeing. This tour will be limited to 15 participants. Tour cost includes all lodging, nearly all meals, all guide services, all excursions noted in the itinerary and all transportation in England. Round-trip airfare to and from USA to England and back, as well as round-trip coach transfer from to and from Newark airport, also is included for participants leaving on the tour with Rick from Binghamton, N.Y. Participants from other regions can deduct $750 and arrange their own trans-Atlantic flights, meeting the group at the tours starting point in Manchester, England.
